REVIEW: Low Down Magazine
5/5 Stars - By Sarah O'Hara

"There’s no doubting that Eyes wide open is one of the best, if not the best, album of 2016. It’s a sensational slice of blues rock that’s tantalising to the ears and soothing to the soul. Don’t just take my word for it though; definitely take a listen to this album, because once you’ve heard it, you’ll want to listen to it again and again."
REVIEW: Guitar Techniques Magazine

Lister’s eighth studio album sees him at the top of his game. Eyes Wide Open grabs you in, from All Of Your Love’s opening riff to the final note of Hold You To It. Lister’s music brims with blues - his influences are all the usual British and American suspects - but his music is so much more, with hooky choruses, beefy riffs and emotive vocals. Everything I Have To Give is Peter Green meets Albert King on steroids, with organ backing and horns - but watch out for Lister’s big solo at the end. Won’t Be Taken Down’s descending arpeggio-fuelled chord sequence and huge guitar sound is blues-rock at his best. Aynsley really knows how to shape a solo, when to hold back and when to step on the gas just listen to Kalina’s epic bridge pickup solo. No duff tracks or fillers here, and although packed with great playing from start to finish it’s never ‘guitar solo for guitar solo’s sake’. With fine songs, a top-notch band, powerful production and a mix of great tones this is British blues at its finest, but with a catchy rock edge. Eyes Wide Open really is up there with the best.

Straight Talkin' Records was founded in 2013 by Aynsley Lister's wife and manager, Stephanie Lister, to promote and release his work.

The label was founded two years after the couple successfully moved the management side of the business in-house and steered away from the traditional format.

Prior to this, Aynsley was signed to UK label Manhaton Records and the German label Ruf Records. His career to date at that point had already seen him sell 100,000 albums.

STR has now released two albums to date; 2013's 'Home' and the newest album, 'Eyes Wide Open', released October 7 2016.
